Educational Resources

We know cheesemaking. We also know quite a bit about cows. We came up with the following resources as a way to share some of what we’ve learned over the last 100 years. Give them a look and bring a little bit of rural living to your classroom!

Advertising Campaigns
Have students design advertising campaigns to market dairy products. Why not have them design a campaign as if they were cows trying to sell milk?

Making Butter
Spend an afternoon making butter with your class by simply filling a clear jar half full with liquid whipping cream from the dairy case of your local grocery store. Let students take turns shaking the jar. The shaking will eventually (10 minutes) create butter balls and liquid whey.

Spread butter over saltines and sample. This is a great way to show how milk is turned into a variety of dairy products.

Making Cheese

You’ve purchased our cheese, enjoyed it in all kinds of dishes and maybe even stopped by our Visitor’s Center to see how it’s made.

Now, you can learn how to make your own cheese at home applying techniques similar to those used by our founders nearly a century ago. Good luck, and good eating!

Making Ice Cream
Spend an afternoon making ice cream with your class with this fun and easy ice cream recipe.

Research Web Links
Check out the following websites for more great information on dairy. We're sure you'll find what you need for your next project or report. If you’re a teacher, we hope these links will help you teach your students how to make healthy food and activity choices and learn a little more about life on the farm.
